Grind Season, Lechoker_ Case Study – Month 2

What I Wanted to Do Last Month

I aimed to write 70,000 words last month.

What I Actually Did Last Month

I wrote 39,911 words, and I have 69,751 words in total now. The reason I did not reach my goal? Because I made some adjustments to my plans. As you may remember, I quit my 9-5 job and got a part-time gig and also decided to freeze my graduate school registration. My aim to do that was to make enough in the website to sustain myself (around 400-500 dollars) as fast as possible and to internet marketing full time.

But, I think I found a faster way to do this full time. My new plan is to get a hefty course load in graduate school and finish it this semester. Then move to next to my mom, so I don’t have to pay for rent and focus on this full time for around 4-5 months to see if it goes anywhere.

That is why I decreased the hours that I spend on the website. I should mention that I’ve been in full psycho mode since I made the decision. No going outside, no binging, nothing. I am a robot for the next 6 months.

To be honest, it can get exhausting sometimes, but I feel fucking alive because I feel like I found my thing. I hope I also manage to make money from it somehow.

Anyway, I think blabbered enough. Let’s get to the business.

Content

I wrote 20 posts in total this month. I didn’t have any informational posts on the website until now. So, 13 of those posts are informational posts. The word count of those articles ranges between 1000-1500 words. The rest of the posts are products reviews. The length of those articles varies between 2000-3000.

When I first launched the website, I made a subscription to Longtail Pro. So, I was writing my posts according to the keywords Longtail Pro told me to go for it. But then, I saw this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Auj4cBVzvGQ&t=2s. Let me summarize the video if you don’t want to bother opening it. Income school guys just say that Longtail Pro and most of the other keyword tools are trash.

That made sense because there were a lot of mainstream keywords that Longtail Pro suggested me to go for them because they were low competition. I was looking at the first page and saw a lot of high-quality websites, but Longtail Pro was telling me they were fine. I found that weird, but I kept writing them until I saw the video.

Also, there were some keywords that the keyword difficulty and the search volume has changed after I published the article lol. In the end, I decided to cancel my subscription. I also didn’t get any other subscription to other keyword tools because it seems like anything other than Ahrefs isn’t worth it, and Ahrefs is way beyond my pay range.

So, instead, I decided to do KGR for a while because it’s free. I lurked around Reddit and in r/juststart a lot to see if the system works or it is bullshit. There were a lot of people who shit on it, but I also saw enough people say that it works. I even pm’d to some of them to verify it, and they told me it worked well for them.

So, I updated some articles that I wrote according to the results I got from Longtail Pro and also wrote 5 new posts that comply with the system. Almost all the articles that I updated started to rank on page 1 in 24 hours. I got so hyped when that happened lol.

Sadly, after a couple of days, most of them have dropped. But some of them stayed. Also, 2 of the 5 articles that I published started ranking on the first page too. This is enough to convince me that it works. I know that the search volume is very low for those, but I’ll try it for a while anyway and see where it goes.

As for creating the content, I think spending a lot of time doing it has been very beneficial for me. I think my writing got much better and, I managed to create a system that makes me write faster.

Another thing that makes me write faster is researching my butt off. Don’t get me wrong; I used to do research too. But, after hearing it on a podcast, I started to almost write the article before actually writing it. That really speeds up the process because then you just have to fill in the blanks. It helps with writer’s block too.

Traffic Stats

There isn’t much going on there. I’ll be reporting it starting from the next month.

Goals for Month 3

I’ll be happy if I write over 20,000 this month. That’s an achievable goal, but we’ll see.

**

I should say I’ve never had this much fun when working on something in my life. This might be because I’m a law graduate and it is the most boring thing ever. But most of the time, I’m stoked to work on the website.

But I hate the editing so much that you have no idea. It feels like wasting time on something that I’ve already done. Especially the part where I do some words bold to make it easier to read. You might guess the reason why I didn’t bother doing the same thing here lol.

One last thing I want to say to beginners is that podcast and blogs are very helpful. I got really good tips from listening to them. I was only able to find the ones that are mainstream though like Income School and Authority Hacker. So, I’ll be happy if you guys have suggestions.

Thanks for reading it! See you next month!
